Daily Activities

Monday 8:30-11:30 AM:

Today was the first day of the second week of Project Period. Hunter and I met up with Diane at 8:30 this morning. We started off the day with a patient that we had actually seen the previous week. Last week he had come in with his wife because they were both having really bad neck pain. Today he came in by himself and Diane started off by massaging his neck a little and showing us how limited his range of motion was. Next Diane had him lie down to do some traction on his neck to help stretch out the Trap muscle and Cervical area. After those exercises she did some ultra sound on him and followed that with some stim. Next we had an 81-year-old man come in for the first time to have an evaluation done. He was complaining of some hip pain so Diane checked his Illiotibial band or IT band to see if it was tight. She let us feel the band and how tight it was while she explained how the tightness would cause some tenderness in the bursa that is located right beneath the band. After his evaluation Diane put some muscle stimulation around his hip and then scheduled another appointment for him. The next lady who came in was also having an evaluation with Diane for the first time. She was having a lot of pain in her neck and was not sure why. Diane decided the lady was in too much pain to do strength exercises/ tests, so she put some stim on the neck around the C6 vertebrae and a little more on her shoulder.  I thought this was a nice segue for the rest of the week as we begin to study the shoulder joint.
